Marté grew up in a community where money was something you chased, not something you understood. No one talked about credit scores. No one explained compound interest. The only financial advice was "get a job and don't spend it all" — and even that felt hollow when the bills always outpaced the paychecks.
Like so many others, Marté learned about money the hard way — through debt, through mistakes, through the gut-punch of seeing a credit report for the first time and not understanding a single line on it. The system wasn't built for people like us. And nobody was explaining how it worked.
That realization changed everything. Marté went on a mission: learn everything the system never taught, then bring it back. Not in the language of Wall Street or Ivy League finance classes — but in the language of the block, the barbershop, the church basement, the after-school program.
The journey wasn't clean. There were setbacks, failed businesses, maxed-out credit cards, and plenty of moments where quitting felt like the smart move. But through every failure came a lesson — and every lesson became part of what would eventually become the "From Hustle to Wealth" curriculum.
GOODFORTUNE888 was born from that lived experience. The name carries meaning: "Good Fortune" because wealth is built, not found. "888" because in many traditions, the number represents infinite abundance — and that's exactly what Marté believes every person is capable of, regardless of where they started.
Today, GOODFORTUNE888 partners with nonprofits, schools, churches, and community organizations to deliver free financial literacy workshops. No catch, no upsell, no subscription. Just real knowledge delivered by someone who's been in the same shoes.
The goal isn't to create financial advisors. It's to create financially empowered communities where the next generation starts ahead — not behind.
